Quick-Start a new Glossary with the Semiant AI Scanner

The Semiant AI Glossary Scanner allows you to quickly create a new glossary or to find new terms by analyzing existing specifications.

You want to use a Glossary in your project but you don’t have one yet? No problem, simply use the Semiant AI scanner to generate a glossary from an existing specification.

The following 45-second-video shows you how the glossary AI scanner works (no sound). Read on below for step-by-step instructions.

1. Open Your Specification

Start by opening the specification you want to use in your web-based requirements management tool: Jama Connect, DOORS Next, Codebeamer, Polarion, Confluence… you name it.

2. Activate Semiant

If you don’t have Semiant installed yet, you can sign up for free.

Activate Semiant on the specification by clicking on the Semiant icon in your browser, to the right of your browser toolbar.

3. Switch to AI Scan Tab

Upon activation, the Semiant sidebar will appear. In order to start the AI glossary scanner, click on the AI Scan tab ❸.

4. Select or Create Glossary

While Semiant is scanning, you can already select the glossary to which new glossary terms should be added. In the drop-down ❹, you can select an existing glossary. If you don’t have one or want to create a new one, simply type a name in the field (don’t forget to click the CREATE NEW button).

5. Select Terms and Optionally Edit them

Next, Semiant will display the scan results in the sidebar. You can recognize unprocessed entries by their icon ❺ (gray box with horizontal line). If you want to include a term in the glossary, check the box. You can also uncheck it to indicated that you have processed it.

Optionally, you can expand the form and edit term, part of speech and definition.

6. Add Terms to Glossary

Don’t forget to scroll down: Semiant will only scan those parts of the specification that are visible to you.

When you are satisfied with your selection, then click ADD TO GLOSSARY at the end of the list of terms.

7. Optionally Inspect and Edit your Glossary

Finally, if you want to have a look at this glossary (or any other glossaries that you might have), you can jump to the Semiant management interface ❼ any time. There you can edit terms, create new definitions and much more.

8 Use Your Glossary

Your new or updated glossary is ready to use. As a reminder, here another 30-second video showcasing the use of glossary management:
